NEW YORK (AP) -Kyle Johnson made five 3-pointers and matched a career high with 23 points, leading Long Island University to a 78-68 victory over Army on Thursday night.
David Hicks and Jaytornah Wisseh each added 14 points for the Blackbirds (1-1). LIU was 15-of-27 (56 percent) from 3-point range, overcoming 20 turnovers that led to 27 Army points.
Army (1-2) erased a 17-point deficit to grab a 50-48 lead on Julian Simmons’ 3 with 11:01 left, but Wisseh tied it to kick off a 10-2 run. The Blackbirds later ran off eight straight points to seize control for good.
Josh Miller scored 15 points for the Black Knights.
