LOS ANGELES (AP) -Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown will be sidelined indefinitely with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
Lakers spokesman John Black said an MRI on Monday revealed the extent of the injury.
Brown was hurt early in the Lakers’ 106-78 victory over Chicago on Sunday.
He will not make the team’s upcoming three-game road trip, and is scheduled to be reevaluated in about a week.
The Lakers have depth at center with Chris Mihm and Andrew Bynum, and Ronny Turiaf also can play the position.
Brown injured his knee and also mildly sprained his left ankle when Bulls center Ben Wallace fell into him under the Los Angeles basket with 8:18 left in the opening period.
Brown was averaging 4.7 points and 5.5 rebounds in his first six games this season.
