DALLAS (AP) – Mavericks rookie point guard Shane Larkin has been activated for the first time since breaking an ankle in summer workouts.
Larkin is available for Monday night’s game against Philadelphia. He was the 18th pick in the first round and injured his right ankle July 12 in the final practice before the team flew to Las Vegas for the summer league.
The son of Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin led Miami to a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament and a berth in the round of 16.
The 5-foot-11 Larkin was expected to be in the mix as a backup to Jose Calderon, who signed as a free agent. Most of the minutes behind Calderon have gone to another rookie in Gal Mekel.
