EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) -Kobe Bryant will miss the Los Angeles Lakers’ exhibition game against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night because of a sprained right wrist – an injury that isn’t considered to be serious.
Lakers spokesman John Black said Bryant didn’t travel to Las Vegas for the team’s seventh and final exhibition game.
“We’ll have an update Saturday when he comes to practice,” Black said.
Lakers coach Phil Jackson said Thursday that Bryant told him a day earlier that he thought his wrist would be OK.
“Today, it was a little bit stiff,” Jackson said. “We thought it would be a good opportunity to just let him stay home and play without him.”
Bryant was injured after Utah center Mehmet Okur struck him in Tuesday night’s exhibition game in Anaheim. The Lakers (2-4) were supposed to play the Jazz again Thursday night in San Diego, but the game was canceled because of the wildfires in Southern California.
