DALLAS (AP) -Mario Elie, who played on championship teams for the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs, was hired as an assistant coach by the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Elie was an assistant coach with Golden State for the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. He also was an assistant with the Spurs for the 2003-04 season.
He worked for FOX Sports Net last season as the host of the Houston Rockets’ pre- and postgame shows.
Elie averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 732 regular-season games during an 11-year NBA career with Golden State, Philadelphia, Portland, Houston, San Antonio and Phoenix.
He won two NBA Championships with Houston (1994, 1995) and one with San Antonio (1999).
