SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -With home-court advantage already locked up, Houston’s Tracy McGrady spent the last game of the regular season scouting the Rockets’ first-round playoff opponent.
Coach Jeff Van Gundy rested McGrady on Wednesday night against Utah. The Rockets will host the Jazz in the first round and Van Gundy didn’t want to risk an injury because Houston had nothing to gain.
The game could have had much more on the line, but the Rockets’ win over the Suns on Monday night in Houston guaranteed they would finish with a better record than Utah.
“I think we proved what we want to accomplish Monday night when we beat Phoenix on our home court,” McGrady said.
