WASHINGTON (AP) -Gilbert Arenas is offering mixed signals about a possible return to the court Saturday against the Detroit Pistons.
The Washington Wizards three-time All-Star hasn’t played all season as he recovers from knee surgery. He first sent a text message to Comcast SportsNet saying: “I’m playing Saturday against Detroit.”
After the team’s morning shootaround Monday, Arenas was asked by a Washington Post reporter if the news was true. Arenas said “it’s only true if I play on Saturday.”
Arenas then told The Washington Times by phone that playing Saturday is “the plan” – but isn’t set in stone.
Somewhere in the middle was interim coach Ed Tapscott. He said it’s a possibility.
