NEW ORLEANS (AP) -Hornets All-Star forward David West returned from a two-game injury absence on Wednesday night when New Orleans hosted the Houston Rockets.
West sprained his right ankle last Friday night when the Hornets defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, then sat out Sunday’s game at Detroit and Monday’s home game against Chicago.
The injury occurred while West was playing through soreness in his left ankle, the result of a sprain during a victory over the Knicks in New York on March 3, an injury that sidelined him for three games earlier this month.
West, averaging 19.7 points and 9.1 rebounds, participated in the Hornets’ shootaround earlier Wednesday and coach Byron Scott said West told him shortly before the game that he was ready.
