SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko was knocked out of Utah’s game against Dallas in the first quarter after a flagrant foul by the Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki.
Kirilenko took a pass in the lane and as he went up for a layup, Nowitzki came down hard with his right arm and got Kirilenko on the shoulder and neck. Kirilenko went straight down and landed on his back and stayed on the floor for several minutes as Jazz fans booed and called for Nowitzki to be ejected.
Kirilenko finally got up and walked gingerly to the free throw line, where Nowitzki appeared to apologize before Kirilenko made both free throws for the flagrant foul.
After the foul shots, Kirilenko limped to the locker room with the help of trainer Gary Briggs.
X-rays were taken of Kirilenko’s right hip. The results were not immediately available.
