CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -Atlanta Hawks guard Josh Childress was sent home Wednesday to undergo an MRI on his injured right knee.
Childress suffered what a team official called a mild hyperextended knee in Tuesday’s loss to Detroit. Childress traveled with the team to Charlotte after the game, but returned to Atlanta when it was determined he wouldn’t play Wednesday night against the Bobcats.
Childress is averaging 12.2 points per game, fourth-best on the team.
“We shrink a little bit when he’s not out there playing,” Atlanta coach Mike Woodson said. “We’ve got enough guys. We just need guys to step up and play.”
