Warriors struggling to cover
The Golden State Warriors are coming off a 110-109 OT loss at home to Portland. They have lost two straight and failed to cover the spread in five straight. The Warriors are 23-13 overall, 8-8 on the road, 14-22 against the spread and 18-18 with the over/under total.
Golden State is still pretty dangerous on offense, averaging 115.4 points per game while shooting a league-best 48 percent from the field. However, they are shooting just 31.4 percent from the arc over their last five games. Defensively, Golden State is giving up 111.5 points per game. Kevin Durant is leading the team with 28.7 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. Stephen Curry is adding 28.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists per contest.
Blazers heating up
Outside of a pair of losses to Utah over the last week, the Blazers have been pretty strong lately. They have won five of their last seven overall, including the win at Golden State. Portland is 20-15 overall, 13-5 at home, 17-18 against the spread and 18-17 with the under.
Portland is in the middle of the road on both offense and defense. The Blazers are scoring 110.9 points per game this season while allowing 110.8 per contest on defense. Damian Lillard is leading the team with 26.7 points and 5.8 assists per game while CJ McCollum is adding 21 points per contest. Jusuf Nurkic is adding 14.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Golden State
The Warriors are just 3-13 against the spread in their last 16 conference games and 0-5 ATS in their last five games when playing on 1 day of rest.
Portland
The Blazers are 28-12 ATS in their last 40 home games and 13-5 ATS in their last 18 against Pacific Division opponents.
Prediction:
The Warriors are still being viewed as the dominant team they have been in previous years, but that team really hasn’t shown up very often. Right now, their offense is struggling as Klay Thompson isn’t able to find his shot. Without their scoring, Golden State is a very average team. Their defense isn’t above average and they have struggled on the road this season. Given their struggles to cover in general, I will take my chances with Portland getting points at home.
NBA Prediction: Portland Trail Blazers +4
