Clippers top the Kings
The Los Angeles Clippers are coming off a 127-118 win over the Kings at home on Wednesday for their third win in four games. The Clippers have covered the spread in four straight as well. Los Angeles is 20-14 on the season, 8-10 on the road, 20-14 against the spread and 22-12 with the over.
The Clippers have one of the top offenses in the NBA this year, averaging 115.9 points per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from the arc. Defensively, the Clip Join is giving up 114.7 points per game. Tobias Harris is leading the team with 21.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game while Danilo Gallinari is adding 19.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.
Lakers without LeBron
The Lakers blew a late lead to fall to the Sacramento Kings on the road last night, 117-116. Los Angeles was without LeBron James last night due to a groin injury and he is unlikely to play tonight as well. The Lakers are 20-15 on the season, 12-5 at home, 15-19-1 against the spread and 21-13-1 with the under.
The Lake Show is putting up 113.3 points per game this season while shooting a league-best 48.1 percent from the field. Defensively, the Lakers are giving up 111.2 points per game. Already without James, the Lakers found out that Rajon Rondo will be out for another month with a finger injury. LeBron is averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game this year while Kyle Kuzma is putting up 18.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
L.A. Clippers
The Clippers have covered the spread in four straight conference games and 20 of their last 28 division games.
L.A. Lakers
The Lakers have covered the spread in six straight division games and five of their last six after a loss.
Prediction:
The Lakers managed to cover last night, but really should have earned a win. Their lack of on-court leadership showed late. Now they have their third game in four days and playing a Clippers team that has looked strong the last two weeks. The Lakers could be without JaVale McGee tonight as well, just adding another missing piece. Los Angeles just doesn’t have the established leaders outside of LeBron to win consistently given the active players. The Clippers are a good team and I would expect them to overwhelm this version of the Lakers.
NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Clippers -5.5
