Suns on a cover streak
Phoenix has lost its last two games coming into today, but the Suns have covered the spread in six straight games. Phoenix is 8-26 on the season, 3-15 on the road, 15-19 against the spread and 20-14 with the under.
The Suns have been getting better on both sides of the ball over previous weeks. For the year, though, their numbers aren’t great. They are averaging 104.6 points per game on offense while giving up 113.4 per game on defense. Devin Booker is leading the team with 24.8 points and 7.0 assists per game while T.J. Warren is adding 18.3 points per contest.
Magic on a skid
Orlando is coming off a 115-91 loss at home to Miami on Sunday for its third straight loss and third straight failed cover. The Magic are 14-18 on the season, 6-10 at home, 17-15 against the spread and 20-12 with the under.
The Magic are struggling on offense this season, averaging just 102.4 points per game while shooting just 44.2 percent from the field. Defensively, the Magic hold opponents to 107.1 points per contest. Nikola Vucevic is leading the team with 20.1 points and 11.8 rebounds per game while Aaron Gordon is adding 15.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Phoenix
The Suns have covered the spread in four straight against Eastern Conference teams and in four straight against team with a losing record.
Orlando
The Magic are 2-7 against the spread in their last nine when playing on two days of rest and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss.
Prediction:
The Magic have dominated this series over recent games, winning four straight while covering in three of the four. That includes a win in Phoenix earlier this year. However, the Suns have really been solid as of late. With Booker returning, the team has been much improved. Their last two losses were in OT at Washington and one the road to a Brooklyn team that has been hot as well. Still, Phoenix covered in both losses. I think the Suns offense will be too much for Orlando to contend with. The Magic just don’t have the scorers that Phoenix does and the Suns have Ayton to patrol the paint.
NBA Prediction: Phoenix Suns +4
