According to the latest oddsmakers, the Lakers are the favorite at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -7.5 points against the Nuggets. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 208.5 points. The public betting currently has 70 percent going on Denver as the road underdog. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NBA Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Nuggets on a roll
Denver is riding a five-game win streak coming into tonight’s game, but all five wins came at home. The Nuggets have lost their last three road games. Denver is 19-8 on the season, 6-5 on the road, 11-13-3 against the spread and 18-9 with the under.
The Nuggets are putting up 106.9 points per game this season while shooting 45.3 percent from the field. Denver has a great defense that allows just 101.7 points per game and holding opponents to 43.7 percent shooting from the field and 30.4 percent shooting from the arc. Jamal Murray is leading the team with 17.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. Nikola Jokic is adding 17.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.8 assists per contest.
Lakers could be without LeBron
The Lakers wrapped up a five-game East Coast road trip with losses at Indiana and Milwaukee this week. They have failed to cover in their last four games as well. Tonight, LeBron James is doubtful to play due to a rib injury. Los Angeles is 24-5 on the season, 10-2 at home, 16-13 against the spread and 17-12 with the under.
Los Angeles is putting up 112.6 points per game this year while shooting 48.4 percent as a team. The Lakers are giving up 104.1 points per game while holding opponents to 43.7 percent shooting. LeBron has been putting up 25.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 10.6 assists per game this year. Anthony Davis is adding 27.7 points, 9.4 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Denver
The Nuggets are just 1-3-1 against the spread in their last five road games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games following a win.
Los Angeles
The Lakers are 13-5 against the spread in their last 18 home games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games as a home favorite.
Prediction:
The Lakers earned a 105-96 win at Denver back on Dec. 3, but Los Angeles had LeBron in the lineup and he put up 25 points with nine assists and six rebounds. Not having James certainly takes a lot from the Lakers. No only is he putting up 25 points a game, but he creates another 20-30 points with his passing. While Davis can be a dominant player on his own, he needs a supporting cast to help him. I am not sure the Lakers have that supporting cast without LeBron. Jokic is someone that can give Davis some issues defensively and I like the depth of Denver to be a problem for the thin Los Angeles bench. I think the Lakers are giving up too many points without their leader on the floor.
