Suns vs. Clippers Pick
Do the Phoenix Suns have the blueprint to upset the host Los Angeles Clippers tonight at 10:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Clippers are a 5-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under sits at 215 points.
Phoenix is 11-21 straight up and 16-15-1 ATS after a 97-91 victory at the Mavericks. Los Angeles is 11-18 overall and 14-15 ATS following a 109-91 loss at the Spurs, its third consecutive defeat. The Clippers won the first meeting this season by a count of 130-88 in Phoenix on Oct. 21. Los Angeles is 5-0 straight up and 4-1 ATS in five meetings since the start of last season. The over is 3-2.
The Suns were led by TJ Warren with 19 points, five rebounds and three steals in the win at Dallas. Isaiah Canaan contributed 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals off the bench. Alex Len added 14 points, 14 rebounds and four assists as a reserve. Phoenix outscored the Mavs 29-16 in the fourth quarter.
DeAndre Jordan tallied 13 points and 14 rebounds in the defeat at San Antonio. Jamil Wilson recorded 13 points, two rebounds and two steals. Austin Rivers added 12 points, three rebounds and three assists. Los Angeles was outscored a combined 62-38 in the first and third quarters.
Phoenix is 0-4 ATS in its last four meetings in Los Angeles. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in Los Angeles.
Phoenix has been competitive in recent games despite the continued absence of leading scorer Devin Booker from the lineup. The Suns have relied on a number of players to pick up the slack rather than having one go-to guy. Tonight, they meet a struggling LA squad looking to get back into the win column. Although Jordan might dominate on the glass and get his 8-15 points, Phoenix matches up well elsewhere. This is a Suns squad playing with some confidence and it looks like the addition of Canaan off the bench is paying major dividends. I’m taking Phoenix to cover the spread tonight.
