Kings not going away
Nearly 30 games into the season, Sacramento is still playing above .500 basketball. The Kings have won three of their last four and covered the spread in four straight. Last night they earned a 120-113 win at Dallas. The Kings are 16-13 on the season, 9-7 on the road, 19-10 against the spread and 19-10 with the over.
Sacramento has been one of the better offensive teams in the NBA this season, averaging 115.8 points per game while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from the arc. Defensively, the Kings are giving up 115.9 points per game, while allowing opponents to shoot 47 percent form the floor. Rookie Marvin Bagley III is out for at least a week with a knee injury. He was putting up 12.7 points per game this year. Buddy Hield is leading the team with 19.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while De’Aaron Fox is adding 18.5 points and 7.5 assists per contest.
T’Wolves return from bad road trip
Minnesota returns from a four-game West Coast road trip where they lost all four games and only managed to cover in one. That included a 141-130 loss at Sacramento on Dec. 12. The Timberwolves are 13-16 on the season, 2-12 on the road, 15-14 against the spread and 19-10 with the under.
The Timberwolves are averaging 110.1 points per game on offense this season while shooting 36.1 percent from the arc. Defensively, they are giving up 110.8 points per game while opponents are shooting 36.4 percent from 3-point land. Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging 21.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game to lead the team while Derrick Rose is adding 18.7 points and 4.4 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Sacramento
The Kings are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games and they have covered in five straight Monday games.
Minnesota
The T’Wolves have covered the spread in four of their last five home games, but are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven games against Pacific Division games.
Prediction:
Minnesota will be glad to be back home, but I don’t know that that means they will be able to just start blowing out opponents. The Kings aren’t the team we have known from recent years. This young squad is playing well and hungry to actually have some success. They have picked up some good wins this season and have been competitive in many of their losses. Unless their shooting just completely fails them tonight, I think the Kings should keep this game interesting and possibly get the upset win.
