Blazers can’t get on track
Portland is having a disappointing start to its season. The Blazers are coming off a 114-99 loss at Denver for a third loss in four games. Portland is 10-16 on the season, 5-10 on the road, 11-14-1 against the spread and 13-13 with the over/under total.
The Blazers are putting up 112.3 points per game on offense this year while shooting 45.1 percent from the floor. Defensively, the Blazers are giving up 114.3 points per game while opponents shoot 44.2 percent against them. Damian Lillard is putting up 26.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game to lead the Blazers. CJ McCollum adds 21.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest.
Suns edged in OT
Phoenix is coming off a 121-119 loss at Mexico City to the Spurs in overtime on Saturday night. The Suns have lost three of their last four games as well. Phoenix is 11-14 on the season, 6-9 at home, 14-10-1 against the spread and 15-10 with the over.
The Suns are putting up 115.5 points per game this year while shooting 45.8 percent from the field. Defensively, Phoenix is allowing 114.3 points per game while opponents shoot 46.9 percent against them. Devin Booker is leading the team with 25 points and 6.4 assists per game. Booker missed the game in Mexico with a forearm injury and is questionable for tonight’s contest. The Suns have Deandre Ayton eligible to return from suspension tonight. He played in just one game before being suspended. Ayton had 18 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks in his lone game this year.
NBA Betting Trends
Portland
The Blazers are 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 road games and just 1-5 ATS in their last six games as an underdog.
Phoenix
The Suns are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games following a loss and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven home games.
Prediction:
These two haven’t met this season. Phoenix comes into this game with a little momentum. Getting Ayton back finally gives the Suns a chance to see just what this roster can do. Booker says he feels good and could find himself playing tonight. I think with Booker and Ayton on the floor together, the Suns should have a chance to be a playoff contender. Portland just hasn’t gotten itself on track and I think the Blazers will struggle on the road against a solid Phoenix offense. Ayton returning should also give the Phoenix defense a little boost.
NBA Prediction: Phoenix Suns -1
