Hornets trying to heat up

Charlotte is coming off a 113-108 win at Brooklyn on Wednesday night and they have won and covered the spread in two straight. The Hornets are now 10-17 on the year, 4-9 on the road, 14-13 against the spread and 14-13 with the over.

The Hornets are not very strong on offense, averaging just 106 points per game while shooting 44.3 percent from the field. Defensively, the Hornets are giving up 112.7 points per game, while opponents shoot 48.3 percent against them. Devonte’ Graham is leading Charlotte this year with 20 points and 7.6 assists per game. Terry Rozier is adding 17.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest.

Bulls light up Hawks

Chicago is coming off a 136-102 win at home over the Hawks to end a three-game losing streak. The Bulls have covered in three straight and six of their last seven games. Chicago is 9-17 on the season, 5-9 at home, 13-13 against the spread and 14-12 with the under.

The Bulls are putting up just 106.6 points per game on offense while shooting only 43.1 percent from the field. Defensively, Chicago is giving up 108.3 points per game while opponents shoot 45.6 percent against them. Zach LaVine is leading Chicago with 22.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Lauri Markkanen is adding 14.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

The Hornets are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games, but 5-1 ATS in their last six road games against a team with a losing home record.

The Bulls are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 Friday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on 1 day of rest.

The Bulls picked up a narrow win at Charlotte last month, 116-115. However, the Hornets have covered in four straight against the Bulls. I don’t love the Hornets here, but it’s hard for me to ride the Bulls giving up so many points. Chicago has been very streaky this year and has had plenty of letdowns at home. Charlotte has a little momentum right now from two nice wins as underdogs and I think they can embrace this large underdog role tonight. Chicago isn’t a team that Charlotte should feel less than. The Hornets have the better scoring depth and will be able to challenge Chicago on both sides of the floor. I think Charlotte can grind this game out and win outright. If the Hornets can’t win, I think they will at least keep it close.

NBA Prediction: Charlotte Hornets +6.5
