Golden State goes for Minnesota’s jugular
The Timberwolves were supposed to position themselves in the fall for a solid chase at a playoff spot. At this rate, Tom Thibodeau’s troops seem destined to land a lottery pick.
On the heels of a 27-point loss to Detroit, Minnesota must contend with vaunted Golden State tonight. Online sports book Bovada.lv gives the class of the Western Conference odds of -625 to emerge victorious. The Wolves, on the other hand, embody +460 underdogs.
At 6-17, the hosts’ talented young roster frequently looks overwhelmed right now. Andrew Wiggins continues to serves as a bankable leading man on offense. Yet some of Karl-Anthony Towns’ numbers are down from his sensational rookie campaign. Ricky Rubio and, to a lesser extent, Zach LaVine don’t appear ready to take that proverbial next step, either.
The Warriors obviously can’t relate. Despite Saturday’s 110-89 defeat at Memphis, Steve Kerr’s gang carries an NBA-best 20-4 record. Both Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry average 25-plus points per contest, while third scoring option Klay Thompson torched Indiana for 60 earlier in the week.

Golden State prevailed at home against Minnesota on Nov. 26 without the services of Draymond Green. Considering that the do-everything forward’s back to full health, this meeting should be even more lopsided. We fully expect the Dubs to improve to 12-2 away from Oracle Arena, and in style.
