Public Betting Trends

According to the latest oddsmakers, Washington is favored on the road, as the Wizards are getting odds of -2.5 points against the Hornets. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 231.5 points. The public betting currently has 70 percent of the wagers going on Washington as the road favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NBA Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Wizards struggling

Washington is coming off a 135-119 loss at home to the Clippers on Sunday. The Wizards have lost five of their last six games while going just 2-4 against the spread. The Wizards are 7-15 on the season, 3-9 on the road, 12-9-1 against the spread and 12-9-1 with the over.

The Wizards have struggled a great deal on defense this season, allowing 122.5 points per game while opponents shoot 49.6 percent against them and 38.3 percent from 3-point land. Offensively, Washington is averaging 118.2 points per game while shooting 47.4 percent from the floor. Bradley Beal is leading the team with 28 points, 4.5 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game. Thomas Bryant is adding 13.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest.

Hornets also sliding

Charlotte is coming off a 122-107 loss at home to Atlanta on Sunday night. The Hornets have lost and failed to cover in four of their last five games. Charlotte is 8-17 on the season, 5-8 at home, 12-13 against the spread and 13-12 with the over.

The Hornets have struggled to do much scoring this year, averaging 105.4 points per game while shooting 44.5 percent from the floor. Defensively, Charlotte is allowing 113.1 points per game while opponents shoot 48.8 percent from the field. Devonte’ Graham is leading the team with 18.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game. Terry Rozier is adding 17.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per contest.

NBA Betting Trends

The Wizards are just 4-12 against the spread in their last 16 games as a road favorite and 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 Tuesday games.

The Hornets are 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games as an underdog, but 12-3 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400.

Washington won the first meeting between these two, 125-118 at home on Nov. 22. The Wizards haven’t been playing well, but they have really faced a touch schedule over recent weeks. They have been up against the likes of the Clippers, Heat, 76ers, Magic, Lakers and Nuggets lately. They actually beat Philly and have won and covered against the Suns and Hornets. Charlotte has been losing, but to the likes of the Hawks, Nets, Suns and Bucks. Some good teams in there, but nothing like what Washington has been up against. I think the Wizards will be relishing a break from this tough schedule and could actually pick up some steam here in upcoming games.

NBA Prediction: Washington Wizards -2.5
