76ers end win streak
Philadelphia had its four-game win streak come to an end on Wednesday in a 113-102 loss at Toronto. The 76ers are 17-9 overall, 4-8 on the road, 11-15 against the spread and 15-11 with the over.
Philly is scoring 113.7 points per game this season while shooting 46.2 percent from the floor. Defensively, the 76ers are giving up 111.8 points per game, but holding opponents to just 44.2 percent shooting. Joel Embiid is putting up 26.3 points, 13.3 rebounds and 1.96 blocks per game this season while Jimmy Butler is averaging 19.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest. Ben Simmons is putting up 15.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 8.0 assists per contest as well. Embiid was announced as a late scratch for this game this afternoon.
Pistons hammered back-to-back
Detroit was on a 5-game win streak, but has lost back-to-back games to the Thunder and the Bucks. Each loss was by more than 20 points. The Pistons are now 13-9 overall, 9-4 at home, 12-10 against the spread and 11-11 with the over/under.
The Pistons are not much of an offense this season, averaging 109.4 points per game while shooting just 43 percent from the field and 31.9 percent from the arc. Defensively, Detroit gives up 109.5 points per game, but it does have the top 3-point defense. Opponents are shooting just 31.3 percent from the arc against them. Blake Griffin is leading the team with 24.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Andre Drummond added 18.0 points and 15.5 rebounds per contest. Detroit could be without a few key role players tonight as guards Ish Smith (groin) and Reggie Bullock (ankle) are questionable to play.
NBA Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The 76ers are just 3-12 against the spread in their last 15 road games, but 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss.
Detroit
The Pistons have covered the spread in five straight Friday games and in seven of their last 10 overall.
Prediction:
With Embiid out of today’s game, that should definitely open the door for the Pistons. I would be all over Philly if Embiid was playing, as he has been in Drummond’s head all season. With him gone, Drummond and Griffin should be able to dominate the paint and dictate the style of play, especially in Detroit.
NBA Prediction: Detroit Pistons -1.5
