Mavs rolling
Dallas has won seven of its last eight games following a 114-100 win on the road against the Lakers on Sunday. The Mavericks have covered the spread in all seven wins as well. Dallas is 13-6 on the season, 7-2 on the road, 11-8 against the spread and 13-6 with the over.
The Mavs have been one of the top offenses in the league this season, averaging 117.8 points per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 36.1 percent from the arc. Defensively, Dallas is giving up 109.8 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 45.1 percent from the floor. Luka Doncic is having an MVP-type start to his season, averaging 30.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and 9.6 assists per game. Kristaps Porzingis is adding 17.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
Pelicans drop fifth straight
New Orleans has lost five straight, including back-to-back losses to Oklahoma City over the past weekend. The Pelicans covered in just one of the five losses New Orleans is now 6-14 on the year, 4-6 at home, 9-11 against the spread and 10-10 with the over/under total.
The Pelicans have had a good offense this year, but struggle defensively, New Orleans is allowing 118.8 points per game while opponents shoot 47.5 percent against them. Offensively, New Orleans is putting up 114.5 points per game while shooting 45.4 percent from the floor and 38.3 percent from the arc. New Orleans still has been without top pick Zion Williamson due to his knee injury. Brandon Ingram has been leading the team with 25.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists. Jrue Holiday is adding 19.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.1 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Dallas
The Mavericks have covered the spread in six of their last seven conference games and in six straight against Southwest Division opponents.
New Orleans
The Pelicans are just 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games playing on 1 day of rest and in just one of their last five conference games.
Prediction:
Dallas won the first meeting this season, 123-116 at New Orleans, covering as a 2-point dog as well. The Mavs have covered in three of their last four against the Pelicans. I like Dallas to cover tonight as well. The Mavs have a lot of momentum and made a statement that they are a contender in the West with their double-digit win over the Lakers on Sunday. Dallas is really locked in offensively right now, scoring at least 114 in six of their last seven games. Doncic is playing as well as anyone and should be able to easily exploit this weak New Orleans defense.
NBA Prediction: Dallas Mavericks -4
