Spurs vs. Grizzlies Pick
Do the struggling Memphis Grizzlies stand a chance at home when they play the San Antonio Spurs tonight at 8PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Spurs are listed as a 4-point favorite on the spread line. The total sits at 192 points.
San Antonio enters with a 14-7 record and 10-10-1 ATS after a 104-95 home win over the Grizzlies, its third win in a row. Memphis is 7-13 overall and 6-13-1 ATS following the loss to the Spurs, its ninth loss in a row. San Antonio is 7-3 straight up and 4-5-1 ATS in 10 meetings since March of this year. The over has gone 7-3.
The Spurs were paced by LaMarcus Aldridge as his 41 points established his benchmark with San Antonio. He also pulled down six rebounds. Patty Mills had 13 points, five assists and three rebounds off the bench. Kyle Anderson had 10 points, four rebounds, four steals and two assists. Tony Parker added 10 points and five assists. The Spurs led 58-49 at halftime.
Memphis was led by Tyreke Evans with 22 points, five assists and three rebounds in the loss. James Ennis III had 15 points, five rebounds and two steals off the bench. Andrew Harrison added 13 points, six rebounds and two assists off the bench. The Grizzlies turned the ball over 17 times, compared to only nine by San Antonio.
The Spurs are 1-4 ATS in their last five meetings in Memphis. The over is 5-0 in the last five meetings.
The surprising firing of Memphis coach David Fizdale did little to alleviate what is going wrong with the Grizzlies as they lost their first game with interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff to San Antonio, the ninth loss in a row. Mike Conley Jr. is the straw that stirs the drink and until he returns to action, expect Memphis to struggle. The Spurs do well against centers, which typically limits the production of Marc Gasol. Evans can only do so much for this team offensively. Expect the Spurs to cover on the road.
