Pistons vs. Hornets Prediction
Can the Detroit Pistons improve on the road and pick up a win when they face the Charlotte Hornets tonight at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Hornets are favored at home tonight, as they are getting odds of -3 points against the Pistons. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 200 points. The home team has won five straight in this series, covering the spread in all five victories.
The Pistons are coming off a 106-88 loss at Oklahoma City on Saturday to fall to 8-10 on the season. The Pistons are just 1-8 on the road this season and 1-8 ATS on the road. While the Pistons are able to defend well, allowing just 97.1 points per game, they struggle on offense. Detroit is averaging just 97.5 points per game this season and a large part of that is due to Reggie Jackson still remaining out with an injury. The starting PG has yet to play this season and expected to return in December from a knee injury. Tobias Harris is the leading scorer with 16.4 points per game while Andre Drummond is averaging 14.6 points and 13.4 rebounds per game.
The Hornets are coming off a 104-85 win at Memphis on Monday night to improve to 10-7 on the season. Charlotte is just 5-4 at home this season and 5-4 against the spread at home. Charlotte is averaging 105.7 points per game on offense this season while the defense is giving up 102.3 points per contest. The team will be without a key role player in Marvin Williams, who is dealing with a bone bruise. He averages 9.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Kemba Walker is the clear leader this year, averaging 24.3 points and 4.9 assists per game.
The Pistons just aren’t a good team on the road. They are clearly lacking the leadership they need from Jackson and it really shows up in road games. The Hornets have the offensive firepower to score on this Detroit defense and the Pistons just don’t have the weapons to answer. Look for Charlotte to win comfortably at home.
