Rockets fall back to .500
Despite being 10-point favorites Saturday night at the Cavaliers, Houston lost by a count of 117-108 to drop to 9-9 on the season. The Rockets trailed 63-58 at halftime and proceeded to be outscored 30-25 in the third quarter. With Chris Paul out of the lineup due to a sore leg, James Harden took command and poured in a game-best 40 points on 14-of-30 shooting. He dished out 13 assists and grabbed four rebounds. Eric Gordon had 28 points, three steals and two rebounds filling in for Paul in the starting lineup. Clint Capela added 12 points, 10 boards, four blocked shots and three assists. Paul is questionable to play in tonight’s game.
Wizards race past Pelicans
Washington (7-12) outscored visiting New Orleans 34-23 in the fourth quarter Saturday night to secure a 124-114 victory. Otto Porter Jr. tallied a game-high 29 points on 12-of-15 shooting including 3-of-4 from 3-point range to lead the way. He added seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. John Wall contributed 22 points, eight dimes and seven boards. Bradley Beal had 18 points, eight assists, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Austin Rivers registered 18 points, two boards, two assists, two steals and two blocked shots off the bench. Markieff Morris accounted for 15 points, nine rebounds and two steals as a reserve. Kelly Oubre Jr. recorded 12 points, four rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots.
NBA Betting Trends
Houston
The Rockets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Washington. The over is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings.
Washington
The Wizards are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings. The over is 4-0 in the last four Washington games after allowing 100 or more points in its previous game.
Prediction:
Houston often struggles without Paul in the lineup and if he is out tonight that’s another good reason to fade the Rockets. Losing by nine at Cleveland doesn’t usually happen to the worst teams, let alone the squad that finished last season with the best record in the Western Conference. I’m going to bet on the Wizards as they look to turn their season around.
