Nets struggle in fourth

Brooklyn lost by a score of 119-114 Tuesday night at Utah to drop to 4-6 overall and 1-4 on the road. The Nets were outscored 35-22 in the fourth quarter of the defeat. Kyrie Irving paced Brooklyn with 27 points on 10-of-30 shooting including 2-of-12 from 3-point range plus 5-of-5 at the free throw line. He also contributed five assists and three rebounds. Spencer Dinwiddie tallied 21 points and four assists off the bench. Taurean Prince recorded 15 points and six boards. DeAndre Jordan racked up 15 points, 17 caroms, four assists, two steals and two blocked shots as a reserve. Joe Harris had 11 points and five rebounds. Garrett Temple added 10 points and two assists.

Nuggets' four-game win streak snapped

Denver lost by a score of 125-121 at home Tuesday night against Atlanta to fall to 7-3 overall and 3-2 at home. The Nuggets led by nine after one quarter, but were outscored 38-20 in the second quarter en route to the defeat. Will Barton paced Denver with 21 points on 8-of-16 shooting including 4-of-7 from 3-point range plus 1-of-2 at the free throw line. He also registered nine rebounds and four assists. Nikola Jokic accounted for 20 points, seven assists, six boards and three steals. Paul Millsap had 19 points, six caroms and two assists. Jamal Murray tallied 18 points, eight dimes and three rebounds. Monte Morris registered 14 points, four assists and three boards off the bench. NBA Betting Trends

The Nets are 4-1 ATS in their last five games versus the Western Conference. Brooklyn is 4-10 ATS in its last 14 games overall.

The Nuggets are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games. Denver is 0-8 ATS in its last eight Thursday games.

This spread seems a little too wide for me. The Nuggets are a solid team, but have often played down to their competition this season and allowed the Hawks to beat them straight up on their home floor two nights ago. On paper, maybe this is a nice bounceback spot for Denver. But I'm going with a Nets squad that played Utah tough until a poor fourth quarter. The Nets go as Irving goes and he'll have Denver's weakest defender in the starting lineup, Murray, matched up against him. We saw what Trae Young did in that matchup a couple nights ago. I like Brooklyn and the points here.
