Spurs vs. Mavericks Pick
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Spurs are listed as a 7-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 200 points.
San Antonio comes in with an 8-5 overall record and 7-6 ATS after a 133-94 home win over the Bulls. Dallas is 2-12 overall and 3-11 ATS after its 112-99 loss at the Thunder. The Spurs won three out of four meetings straight up and went 1-3 ATS last season. The over went 3-1.
In the win at the Bulls, Pau Gasol led the way with 21 points along with 10 rebounds and four assists. Dejounte Murray contributed 17 points, five rebounds and four assists off the bench. Rudy Gay and Brandon Paul each scored 15 off the bench. San Antonio led 37-15 after the first quarter.
Harrison Barnes accounted for 22 points and 13 rebounds in the loss at OKC. Yogi Ferrell registered 18 points and four assists. Dennis Smith Jr. added 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Dallas trailed by only two at halftime, but were outscored 39-25 in the third quarter.
The Mavericks are 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games played on one day rest. The Spurs are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games.
San Antonio looked as good as it has all season in its last contest, albeit at home against a mediocre Bulls squad. But it is a Spurs team that has struggled recently on the road and now they face Dallas, which has traditionally played San Antonio tough at home. We like the Mavs here to stay within the number.
