Shorthanded Pistons earn win
Detroit picked up a 113-109 home victory Saturday night over Brooklyn despite having several key players out with injuries. The Pistons (3-4, 2-2 at home) trailed by eight at halftime before outscoring the Nets 32-18 in the third quarter to take control. Andre Drummond led the way with his third straight 20-20 games as he finished with 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting plus 5-of-6 at the free throw line to go with 20 rebounds, six assists, five blocked shots and three steals. Luke Kennard tallied 24 points, four dimes and three boards. Bruce Brown had 22 points, seven assists, two caroms and two steals. Markieff Morris accounted for 13 points, four rebounds and two assists. Tony Snell added 10 points and four boards.
Wizards drop third straight
Washington lost 131-109 at home Saturday night against Minnesota to drop to 1-4 overall and 0-2 at home. The Wizards trailed 70-56 at halftime en route to the defeat. Bradley Beal paced Washington with 30 points on 8-of-19 shooting including 3-of-8 from 3-point distance and 11-of-13 at the charity stripe in 28 minutes of action. Isaiah Thomas tallied 16 points, seven assists and four rebounds off the bench. Admiral Schofield accounted for 15 points in 15 minutes as a reserve. Moritz Wagner added 14 points, five caroms and two steals off the bench.
NBA Betting Trends
Detroit
The Pistons are 10-21 ATS in their last 31 games versus the Southeast Division. Detroit is 1-4 ATS in its last five road games.
Washington
The Wizards are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games. Washington is 0-4 ATS in its last four games versus the Central Division.
Prediction:
Detroit is without Blake Griffin still plus it does not have either of its top two point guards active in Reggie Jackson or Derrick Rose. With that said, the Wizards are not a good basketball team and got pounded two nights ago at home by a T-Wolves team without Karl-Anthony Towns. The Pistons downed the Nets at home the under night under the same circumstances and I expect Drummond to put his squad on his back again here to record another win or at least cover the small spread.
