Warriors vs. Spurs Pick
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Warriors are an 8.5-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 218 points.
Golden State comes in with a 5-3 record after a 141-113 blowout win at the Clippers. San Antonio is 4-3 following a 108-94 loss at the Celtics, its third straight loss to wrap up a road trip. The Warriors went 5-2 straight up and 4-3 ATS in the meetings last year, sweeping a playoff series in which they covered the spread three times. The total went over in six of the seven games.
In the win at Los Angeles, Stephen Curry paced Golden State with 31 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Kevin Durant put in 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Draymond Green contributed 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Klay Thompson added 15 points, six assists and five rebounds. The Warriors led 74-57 at halftime and outscored the hosts in every quarter.
Brandon Paul paced the Spurs with 18 points and five rebounds off the bench in the loss at Boston. Rudy Gay contributed 14 points off the bench. Pau Gasol had 11 points, eight rebounds and four assists. LaMarcus Aldridge added 11 points and five boards. San Antonio trailed 54-49 at halftime and was outscored in every quarter.
The Warriors are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in San Antonio. The over is 5-0 in the last five meetings.
The Spurs were hammered by 27, three and 14 points in the final three games of their road trip after winning by 17 at Miami in the first game. Now back at home, they get the defending NBA champion Warriors who just crushed the Clippers on the road. San Antonio is really missing star Kawhi Leonard and until he returns, you'll probably see an up-and-down product. While Golden State has more firepower, the Spurs are at home and in need of a good performance. Getting 8.5 points seems like a steal for what is routinely one of the NBA's best franchises.
