Randle tries to steer visitors to upset win
Indiana had a rough weekend, dropping two straight on the road in Brooklyn and Chicago. But will a trip back to the Hoosier State cure the Pacers’ early-season woes?
Nate McMillan’s troops take on the Lakers tonight, with a 7 p.m. ET tip at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Online sports book Bovada.lv gives the hosts odds of -460 to prevail, whereas Los Angeles represents a +365 underdog. The over/under point total sits at 216.
Despite Paul George’s usual heroics, Indiana has been wildly inconsistent through three contests. On Saturday, the team allowed 118 points to the Bulls. Opponents are currently shooting 46 percent from the floor against the Pacers.
Meanwhile, new coach Luke Walton’s dealing with his own issues in La-La Land. After opening the year with a 120-114 victory over Houston, Los Angeles absorbed a pair of losses away from Staples Center. Promising power forward Julius Randle continues to build confidence, though, having just poured in 20 points to go along with nine rebounds vs. Oklahoma City.
We genuinely look forward to watching two squads that make no secret of wanting to push the tempo. Yet Indiana’s captured five of the last six meetings in this series, and there’s little reason to think George & Co. can’t protect the house again. Bank on the Pacers to improve to 2-2.
