Butler makes Heat debut in win
Miami cruised to a 112-97 victory Tuesday night at home over Atlanta to improve to 3-1 overall and 2-0 at home. The Heat led 59-49 at halftime en route to the win. Tyler Herro led Miami with 29 points off the bench on 7-of-9 shooting including 3-of-4 from 3-point range plus 12-of-16 at the free throw line. He also contributed seven rebounds and two assists. Jimmy Butler tallied 21 points in his Heat debut to go with five rebounds, three steals and two dimes. Goran Dragic had 21 points, three boards and three assists as a reserve. Bam Adebayo registered 17 points, 10 caroms, three assists, three blocked shots and two steals. Kendrick Nunn added 17 points and three steals.
Young sprains ankle
Atlanta fell by a count of 112-97 at Miami Tuesday night as point guard Trae Young sprained his right ankle after playing 11 minutes and is day-to-day. The Hawks trailed 88-70 through three quarters and were unable to rally. John Collins led Atlanta with 30 points on 10-of-17 shooting including 5-of-8 from 3-point range plus 5-of-6 at the charity stripe. Jabari Parker added 12 points, two boards, two assists and two steals as a reserve.
NBA Betting Trends
The Heat are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six Thursday games. Miami is 3-0-1 ATS in its last four games overall.
The Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games. Atlanta is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 Thursday games.
The Hawks have ruled out Young until at least next week so that hurts their chances considerably here. While Atlanta is at home against the same team it lost to the other night, I'd rather take my chances on a squad at full strength and with a true leader in Butler. The contributing pieces are all playing great for Miami and it has a chance to be one of the surprising teams in the Eastern Conference this season. I'm giving the points here.
