Leonard scores 30 in win

Los Angeles eased to a 111-96 home win Monday night over Charlotte to improve to 3-1 on the season and 2-1 at home. The Clippers outscored the Hornets 54-42 in the second half to put it away. Kawhi Leonard led LA with 30 points on 10-of-18 shooting including 2-of-5 from 3-point range plus 8-of-8 at the free throw line. He also accounted for seven rebounds, six assists, three blocked shots and two steals. Lou Williams tallied 23 points, four rebounds and four assists off the bench. Montrezl Harrell contributed 19 points, seven boards, two assists and two steals as a reserve. Landry Shamet added 16 points along with four caroms and two dimes.

Jazz edge Suns

Utah earned a 96-95 victory Monday night at Phoenix to improve to 3-1 overall and 1-1 on the road. The Jazz were outscored 56-50 in the second half but ultimately held on. Bojan Bogdanovic paced Utah with 29 points on 8-of-13 shooting including 4-of-8 from 3-point range plus 9-of-9 at the charity stripe. He also tallied five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Donovan Mitchell accounted for 25 points, three dimes, two boards and two steals. Rudy Gobert added 15 points, 18 rebounds and two steals.

NBA Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Clippers are 9-19 ATS in their last 28 games versus the Northwest Division. Los Angeles is 2-5 ATS in its last seven games playing on one day of rest.

The Jazz are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games versus the Pacific Division. Utah is 13-5 ATS in its last 18 Wednesday games.

It always feels uncomfortable to be against the Jazz and this is no exception even with a very good Clippers team. Utah is super good defensively and has an efficient offense, especially now with Mike Conley Jr. running the show and Bogdanovic hot to open the season. Los Angeles is going to get plenty of wins this season, but I see a loss in the cards here as it is still trying to figure out how to use all its pieces effectively.
