Pacers falter in fourth quarter
Indiana was outscored 36-24 in the fourth quarter of its season opener Wednesday night at home versus Detroit as it lost 119-110. Domantas Sabonis paced the Pacers as he scored 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting plus 5-of-5 at the free throw line. He also tallied 13 rebounds and two assists. Myles Turner notched 25 points, nine rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals. Malcolm Brogdon had 22 points, 11 assists and three boards in his Indiana debut. Jeremy Lamb contributed 10 points, four caroms and three dimes. T.J. Warren also scored 10.
Cavs stumble at Magic
Cleveland fell by a score of 94-85 at Orlando Wednesday night in its season opener. The Cavaliers trailed 55-41 at halftime and were unable to recover. Tristan Thompson led Cleveland with 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go with 11 rebounds. Collin Sexton also scored 16 to go with two boards and two assists. Cedi Osman notched 13 points, three caroms, two dimes and two steals. Kevin Love added 11 points, 18 rebounds and three assists.
NBA Betting Trends
Indiana
The Pacers are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road games. Indiana is 0-4-1 ATS in its last five games versus the Eastern Conference.
Cleveland
The Cavaliers are 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight Saturday games. Cleveland is 2-5 ATS in its last seven games overall.
Prediction:
The Pacers are at less than full strength until star guard Victor Oladipo comes back, but the signing of guard Brogdon and forward Warren helps provide some offensive spark in the meantime. With Cleveland in a full rebuild, it is going to take its fair share of lumps and I think this is a contest where the Pacers can lean on their defense plus the fact they have the more well-rounded offense.
