Mavericks vs. Grizzlies Pick
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Grizzlies are listed as an 8-point favorite on the spread line. The over-under is set at 197 points.
Dallas enters with a 1-3 record after it defeated Memphis 103-94 at home Wednesday night. The Grizzlies are now 3-1 after the loss. The Mavericks have won three of the last five meetings straight up and ATS since the start of last season. The over-under is 2-2-1.
The Mavericks were paced by rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. in Wednesday's win as he tallied 19 points and five assists. Harrison Barnes had 15 points, six rebounds and three dimes. Wesley Matthews had 16 points along with four rebounds and two steals. Dallas opened up a 32-18 lead through one quarter and held on from there.
Marc Gasol contributed 26 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals for Memphis. Mike Conley had 21 points, five rebounds and three assists. Tyreke Evans scored 13 off the bench.
Dallas is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings with Memphis. The over is 12-4-2 in the last 18 meetings.
The Grizzlies are the much better team here, although Smith Jr. returning from injury was clearly a huge boost for the Mavs in the first game of the home-and-home series. Public bettors are heavily siding with Memphis here it seems, but we like Dallas to cover the spread which looks a little too big. Expect the Grizzlies to win, but Dallas to stay within the number.
