L.A.’s title odds soar after re-signing Jordan
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – The Clippers’ odds to win the 2016 NBA Finals changed significantly after they officially re-signed DeAndre Jordan earlier this week.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Clippers went from 25/1 all the way down to 9/1 to win the 2016 NBA Championship following the signing of Jordan. The Cavs remain the favorites to win it all next season at 11/4, while the Spurs are 3/1 and the defending champion Warriors are 11/2.
Jordan officially re-signed with the Clippers just after midnight on Thursday morning. He verbally committed to Mark Cuban and the Mavericks before changing his mind after a bizarre situation in which several members of the Clippers flew to Houston for a meeting with Jordan to convince him to back out of his deal with Dallas.
On Friday Jordan did issue an apology to Cuban and the Mavericks for backing out of his verbal agreement. Jordan tweeted that he wanted to “publicly apologize to one of the best owners in the world” and then included Cuban and the Mavericks’ Twitter handles. He also apologized to the Mavs’ fans in that same tweet.
