Warriors now 2/3 to win title with Durant
The Golden State Warriors were already favored to win the 2017 NBA Finals championship, but their odds improved even more after signing Kevin Durant.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Warriors now have 2/3 odds to win the 2017 NBA Championship, which are by far the best odds on the board. The defending champion Cavs, meanwhile, are 7/2, while the Spurs are 12/1 to win it all next season.

Durant announced on Monday that he will be signing with the Warriors, who were 5/2 to win next season’s NBA title before the news broke. Golden State opened with 2/1 odds before this past season’s NBA championship, then lost to LeBron James and the Cavaliers.

Per ESPN’s Marc Stein, Durant will sign a two-year deal worth $54.3 million that carries a player option for the 2017-18 season. The move dramatically shifts the NBA landscape, as the Oklahoma City Thunder go from a significant threat to the Warriors and the rest of the Western Conference, to a team that is suddenly lacking star power outside of Russell Westbrook.
Durant and Steph Curry now make for a lethal pairing, while Klay Thompson and Draymond Green could be forced to take a slight step back offensively. But even if players like Thompson and Green are less involved offensively for the Warriors next season, not many players or fans are complaining about the addition of Durant.
