Mills out until January
SAN ANTONIO, TX (TheSpread) – The NBA champs were given some bad news on Tuesday and their hopes of repeating as champs just got more difficult.
Back-up point guard Patty Mills will have shoulder surgery for a rotator-cuff injury that had been an issue during the season, according the ESPN’s Marc Stein. The surgery and recovery time is expected to take six months, putting Mills out until January.
Mills is a free-agent this offseason, but is already working on re-signing with the Spurs. Mills played a key role for San Antonio in the NBA Finals, scoring 17 points in Game 5 of the series. Mills averaged 10.2 points per game last season.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, San Antonio has been given 6/1 odds to repeat as the NBA champions next season. The Miami Heat are listed as the favorites, as they have odds of 7/2 odds.
