Atlanta Hawks DFS Notes
Trae Young hit 17-of-34 shots, four 3-pointers and 10-of-12 free throws for a playoff career-high 48 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists and a steal in Wednesday’s thrilling 116-113 Game 1 win over the Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals. Trae was so special tonight and might be a bigger problem for opposing teams than Giannis Antetokounmpo, who just missed a triple-double tonight. He shimmied on a 3-pointer, he made an incredible pass off the backboard for a John Collins dunk and led his team to a win in a game they entered as 8-point underdogs. The Bucks went on a 20-8 run late before a John Collins dunk stopped it and the Hawks held on as Trae joined Lou Hudson, Dominique Wilkins and Paul Millsap as the only other Hawks to ever have 40 in a playoff game. This was the Hawks’ first Eastern Conference Finals win in history and they’re now 6-2 on the road in these playoffs. The Bucks are/were heavy favorites in this series, but Young’s shoulder doesn’t appear to be a problem and he looked like a superhero tonight. Game 2 is at Milwaukee on Friday and it’s officially a must-win game for the Bucks, who have to be stunned after this one. Trae’s 48 were the most points by a player in a conference finals debut in history, and since Amare Stoudemire had 41 back in 2005.
Milwaukee Bucks DFS Notes
Giannis Antetokounmpo hit 14-of-25 shots and 6-of-8 free throws for 34 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, two steals and two blocks in 41 minutes of Wednesday’s 116-113 home loss to the Hawks in the Eastern Conference Finals Game 1. Giannis was awesome tonight, but Trae Young was a little more awesome and the Hawks got a huge win at Milwaukee for their third Game 1 win on the road in these playoffs. He held his own at the free throw line and outside of missing a couple layups, looked fantastic. Jrue Holiday was the key for the Bucks staying in this game tonight with 33 points, 10 assists, five triples and a full stat line, and Khris Middleton added 15 points, but shot just 6-of-23 from the floor tonight. This series isn’t over, but not many people thought the Hawks could win Game 1. Middleton has to be better and Holiday has to keep it going if the Bucks are going to win this series. But Giannis is going to “get his,” regardless.
