The Warriors are the three-time defending champions in the Western Conference and have won two of the last three NBA Finals. The Warriors have gone to five games in both of their series. It opened with a 5-game series win over the seventh-seeded San Antonio Spurs. It was followed up by a 5-game series win over the New Orleans Pelicans. The Warriors have yet to lose at home in the playoffs, suffering both losses on the road.

The Houston Rockets last won the Western Conference Finals in 1995 and they have four titles in franchise history. The Rockets have won both of their playoff series in five games. They opened with a 5-game series win over the eighth-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves and followed that up with 5-game win over the fifth-seeded Utah Jazz.
