Dallas Mavericks DFS Notes
Luka Doncic hit 15-of-30 shots, four 3-pointers and 11-of-14 free throws for 45 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, a block and five turnovers in Monday’s 121-114 loss to the Suns in Game 1. Luka saw his teammates struggle for the most part tonight although Maxi Kleber added 19 points and five 3-pointers on 6-of-9 shooting, Dorian Finney-Smith added 15 points, six boards and two 3-pointers, and Jalen Brunson hit just 6-of-16 shots for 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal. The Mavs made a run in the fourth quarter and won it 35-25, but never really threatened to win this game. In short, Luka’s going to need to find more help on both ends of the floor and the Mavs are going to have to find someone to guard big man Deandre Ayton, who hit 12-of-20 shots for 25 points, eight rebounds and a block tonight. Luka’s 45 points pushed him past Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Bob McAdoo and Rick Barry for the most points in their first 16 playoff games, leaving him only behind Michael Jordan, who got him by 64 points.
Phoenix Suns DFS Notes
Devin Booker hit 7-of-20 shots, one 3-pointer and 8-of-8 free throws for 23 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, a block and just one turnover in Monday’s 121-114 win over the Mavericks to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Booker looked rusty in his closeout game in the last series but looked like his old self tonight. He didn’t shoot it particularly well but he flirted with a triple-double and only turned it over one time. He’s back from his hamstring injury and the Mavericks are going to have to go back to the drawing board to figure out how to beat the Suns in Phoenix. The Suns were a perfect 18-of-18 from the free throw line while the Mavs hit just 18-of-25 free throws. Had the Mavs matched the Suns perfection it would have been an entirely different ball game.
