NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs Update
** All records as of May 1, 2018 **
1 Toronto Raptors vs 4 Cleveland Cavaliers
Cavs up 1 to 0
In the first game between the Raptors and Cavs, the Cavs proved best by beating Toronto 113 to 112 in overtime. It was a significant win for the Cavaliers because LeBron only scored 26 points.
The Cavs got 19 from Kyle Korver, 20 from J.R. Smith, 16 from Jeff Green, and 14 from Tristan Thompson.
The Raptors should bounce back. Although 5 Cleveland players scored in double-figures, the Cavs needed overtime to beat the Raptors by a single point.
Online bookie agents will look at that and promote Cleveland ATS and on the moneyline in Game 2.
2 Boston Celtics vs 3 Philadelphia 76’ers
Boston up 1 to 0
In Game 1, Boston routed Philly 117 to 101. The 76’ers shot a horrible 5 of 26 from 3-point range.
Unless Philadelphia starts hitting their 3-point shots, this could be a short series. The 76’ers missed a ton of wide-open 3-point attempts.
That’s not like them.
Philly should make the necessary adjustments to make this a competitive series. Pay per head agents most likely will set max betting limits on the 76’ers moneyline in Game 2.
They’ll also use their layoff accounts if too much action goes to the 76’ers against the spread.
NBA Western Conference Playoffs Update
** All Records as of May 1 **
1 Houston Rockets vs 5 Utah Jazz
Houston up 1 to 0
Houston’s workmanlike 110 to 96 win over the Utah Jazz pretty much says it all. The Jazz match up better with Houston than most of the other teams in the Western Conference Playoffs.
The fact that Houston beat Utah by 14 points means that the Rockets could sweep the Jazz.
But, here’s the thing: the spread was Rockets -11.5. Houston didn’t blow out the Jazz. There’s a good chance the Jazz cover the spread in at least 2 games during this series.
That’s music to the ears of online bookies. They could get close to even money on both sides of the spread in every game in this series.
2 Golden State Warriors vs 6 New Orleans Pelicans
Golden State up 2 to 0
Golden State blew out the Pelicans 123 to 101 in Game 1. New Orleans fought back in Game 2. They didn’t do enough to win. The Warriors only beat the Pelicans 121 to 116, though.
Pay per head agents are expecting a long, drawn out series. Golden State looked like they’d sweep the Pelicans in Game 1. In Game 2, New Orleans played great.
This could be a 7-game series. That’s what bookies are planning for. They’re also hoping that they won’t have to use their layoff accounts, line movers, or schedule limit overrides.
