Celtics dominate Game 1
Boston dominated in the series opener on Sunday, picking up a 112-90 victory over the Bucks. The Celtics have won six straight games now, going 5-0-1 against the spread. The Celtics are now 54-33 overall, 24-20 on the road, 43-42-2 against the spread and 48-39 with the over.
The Celtics came to play on Sunday, looking solid on defense while shooting well from the field. Boston pulled down 51 rebounds while shooting 47 of 87 from the field and 13 of 31 from the arc. Kyrie Irving continued his great postseason, putting up 26 points with 11 assists and seven rebounds. Al Horford added 20 points with 11 rebounds and was a real defensive problem for the Greek Freak.
Bucks rattled in opener
Milwaukee looked lost in the series opener on Sunday in the 22-point loss to the Celtics. The Bucks just never got out of the gates. Milwaukee is now 64-23 on the season, 35-9 at home, 51-32-4 against the spread and 45-42 with the over.
Milwaukee, who was the league’s top rebounding team during the season, was out-rebounded 51-44 in the loss on Sunday. Their offense was also lacking as the team shot just 31 of 89 from the field. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 22 points with eight rebounds, but was just 7 of 21 from the field. Khris Middleton added 16 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Milwaukee will continue to be without Malcolm Brogdon and Pau Gasol tonight, as they continue to feel with foot injuries.
NBA Betting Trends
Boston
The Celtics have covered the spread in six straight road games and in eight of their last nine conference semifinal games.
Milwaukee
The Bucks have covered the spread in seven straight Tuesday games, but they are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven conference semifinal games.
Prediction:
Boston put on a show in Game 1, really taking the physicality to Milwaukee. After a breeze of an opening series, the Bucks didn’t seem ready for what the Celtics had to bring. I don’t expect that enthusiasm and defensive effort to die down in Game 2. Boston has been playing great defense all postseason thus far and Milwaukee is going to need to find its shooting if it hopes to avoid an 0-2 deficit. Milwaukee may be able to find a win tonight, as I don’t think they will shoot as terrible tonight, but Boston should be able to make this a competitive game. I will take the Celtics with the points tonight.
NBA Prediction: Boston Celtics +7.5
