Utah took a 3-2 lead in the series thanks to a 96-92 win over the Clippers in Game 5 on Tuesday night. Utah has won back-to-back games in this series and covered the spread in four of the five games. The Jazz come into today’s game 54-33 overall, 30-13 at home and 40-34-4 against the spread. Los Angeles is 53-34 overall, 23-20 on the road and 41-45-1 against the spread.
Rudy Gobert continued to have a big impact in the series in Game 5, as he pulled down 11 rebounds and scored 11 points. The Jazz had a 43-34 edge on the glass in the win and Utah held the Clippers to 29-of-69 shooting. Gordon Hayward bounced back from his food poisoning in Game 4 by scoring 27 points in Game 5 to lead the Jazz. Chris Paul had 28 points with nine assists while J.J. Redick had 26 points.
I like Utah at home tonight. The Jazz are a 30-win team at home and the Clippers are continuing to play short-handed. Gobert being back in the lineup, combined with the Blake Griffin injury, has allowed Utah to control the paint on both sides of the court. Hayward should have another solid game while Paul won’t get great support from his teammates.
