Boston picked up a 104-87 win in Game 3 on Friday to cut the Chicago series lead to 2-1. The road team has won and covered the spread in all three games in this series thus far. Chicago is now 43-42 overall, 25-17 at home and 44-41 against the spread. Boston is 54-31 overall, 24-18 on the road and 41-42-2 against the spread.
The Celtics finally got on track once they got away from Boston, as they shots very well from the arc in Game 3, going 17-of-37 from 3-point land and 41-of-86 from the floor. Isaiah Thomas finally got the scoring support he’s needed this series. He had just 16 points, but had nine assists as three other starters scored in double figures. Al Horford had 18 points with eight rebounds, six assists and four steals while Avery Bradley had 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Chicago struggled shooting, going just 33-of-84 from the floor and 6-of-21 from 3-point land. Dwyane Wade led the team with 18 points, but was 6-of-18 shooting.
Chicago won’t shoot as poorly as it did in Game 3 and the Celtics likely won’t hit 17 3-pointers, but I still like Boston in today’s contest. The loss of Rajon Rondo seems like it could have a real negative impact for the Bulls. Rondo was playing some great basketball in Boston to start the series and generating a lot of good scoring opportunities for the Bulls. That was missing in Game 3. Chicago had just 14 assists as a team in the loss. Rondo had 20 on his own in the first two games.
