Game 1 all Golden State
The Clippers didn’t have much of a showing in Game 1, suffering a 121-104 loss at Golden State while failing to cover a 13.5-point spread. The Clippers fall to 48-35 on the season, 22-20 on the road, 45-37-1 against the spread and 45-37-1 with the over.
Los Angeles struggled on the glass in Game 1, getting outrebounded 53-40 by the Warriors. The Clippers didn’t shoot terribly well either, going just 38 of 94 from the field and 11 of 30 from the arc. Like usual, it got big bench support as Montrezl Harrell had 26 points and five rebounds while Lou Williams had 25 points with nine assists. Patrick Beverley added just three points with seven rebounds and seven assists, but he did get himself and Kevin Durant ejected in the second half through his trash-talk and nagging of Durant.
Warriors back to form
Golden State looked like what many expect them to look like in Game 1 with the 17-point win over the Clippers. Golden State is 58-25 on the season, 31-11 at home, 36-46-1 against the spread and 45-38 with the under.
The Warriors knocked down 14 3-pointers in the Game-1 victory while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field for the game. Stephen Curry hit 8 of 12 3-pointers and finished with an impressive 38 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists. Kevin Durant added 23 points before getting ejected while Draymond Green had 17 points with seven rebounds and seven assists.
NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Clippers have failed to cover in five straight games overall and in four of their last five following a loss.
Golden State
The Warriors are 4-1 against the spread in their last five home games and 27-9 ATS in their last 36 conference quarterfinal games.
Prediction:
Golden State stepped up and performed like it is capable of in Game 1 and the Clippers didn’t do themselves any favors with Beverly acting like an idiot. Him getting Durant ejected is likely only to waken the beast inside Durant for Game 2. Keep in mind that Klay Thompson was also quite quiet in the first game and is likely to find his shot at some point in this series. The Clippers just don’t have the offense to contend with Golden State in this series if the Warriors are on their game.
NBA Prediction: Golden State Warriors -13.5
