According to oddsmakers, the Bucks are the clear favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -13 points against the Pistons. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 218.5 points. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NBA Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Pistons win last two
Detroit is coming off wins over Memphis and New York to end the regular season and get the 8 seed in the East. However, Detroit is just 1-5 against the spread in its last six. The Pistons are 41-41 overall, 15-26 on the road, 41-38-3 against the spread and 43-39 with the under.
The Pistons aren’t much of an offense, averaging just 107 points per game while shooting just 44 percent from the floor and 34.8 percent from the arc. Defensively, Detroit is giving up just 107.3 points per game while opponents shoot 46.9 percent against them and 34.5 percent from the arc. Blake Griffin has missed a number of games over the past few weeks due to a knee injury and he is questionable to play tonight due to the injury. He is averaging 24.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game this season. Andre Drummond is adding 17.3 points and 15.6 rebounds per contest.
Bucks own top seed
Milwaukee was the best team in the NBA this season and the Bucks were able to be on cruise control over the last week. Milwaukee enters the playoffs at 60-22 overall, 33-8 at home, 47-31-4 against the spread and 42-40 with the over.
The Bucks have the league’s top offense, averaging 118.1 points per game while shooting 47.6 percent as a team from the field and 35.3 percent from 3-point land. Defensively, Milwaukee is giving up 109.3 points per game while holding opponents to a league-low 43.3 percent shooting. Milwaukee does still have some injury issues as Pau Gasol and Malcolm Brogdon are both still out to start the series. Giannis Antetokounmpo is leading the team with 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game while Khris Middleton is adding 18.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Detroit
The Pistons are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight conference quarterfinal games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games on three days of rest or more.
Milwaukee
The Bucks are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games following a loss and 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 against division opponents.
Prediction:
The Bucks had to see what happened yesterday with Toronto and Philadelphia both losing at home. I expect Milwaukee to be focused and ready to go today. They won all four meetings with Detroit this season, going 3-0-1 against the spread. They have just too much offensive firepower for Detroit, which can’t keep up. If Griffin can’t go, the Pistons really are not a very good team without him. The contest could get out of hand quickly.
NBA Prediction: Milwaukee Bucks -13
