Charlotte Hornets DFS Notes
Gordon Hayward (left ankle sprain) made his return to the lineup in Saturday’s 144-114 loss to the 76ers and went for five points on 2-of-6 shooting, adding three rebounds, four assists, one steal, one 3-pointer and one turnover in 17 minutes. Hayward came off the bench this time around and entered the game halfway through the first quarter, nearly immediately finding Montrezl Harrell for an easy dunk. He missed his first shot attempt, but he hit a floater with two minutes left in the first quarter to get on the board, and it was an overall encouraging performance from the vet. Hayward had missed his last 22 games coming in and was expected to be on a minutes limit, which Hornets coach James Borrego stayed true to, and he may have played even less than planned given the lopsided score. It’s hard to envision Hayward getting back to the 32 minutes per game that he averaged pre-injury before the regular season concludes, making him a fairly unappealing fantasy asset the rest of the way, but we’ll see how his ramp up process goes. The team’s priority will remain getting him right for their play-in game(s), which they are set to play in no matter what happens for the remainder of the regular season, with only where they end up being a factor. Lamelo Ball (13/2/5 with two steals, three triples, six turnovers) and Terry Rozier (10/4/6 with five steals and a trey) both posted solid lines with the exception of LaMelo’s giveaways, but they combined to shoot just 7-of-21 from the floor in the losing effort.
Miami Heat DFS Notes
Jimmy Butler (left big toe) is not being listed on the injury report for Tuesday’s game against the Hornets. Jimmy Buckets skipped Sunday’s game in Toronto, with it being the second leg of a back-to-back, but he’ll be back in action tomorrow night and could see more playmaking responsibilities with Kyle Lowry (general soreness) likely to take the night off.
