Can Heat hold off Pistons?
The Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons jockey for position in the Eastern Conference playoffs tonight when they meet at 8PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Miami is favored at home tonight, as the Heat are getting odds of -4 points against the Pistons. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 202.5 points.
Miami is 44-32 overall, 25-13 at home and 39-36-1 against the spread. Detroit is 41-36 overall, 16-22 on the road and 39-36-2 against the spread. The Heat are currently fifth in the Eastern Conference standings, sitting ½ a game behind Atlanta and Boston for the next two spots. They are just ½ a game behind Atlanta for the division title. The Pistons are tied with Indiana for the last two spots in the East, two games ahead of the Bulls.
The Pistons have won and covered the spread in three straight over Miami, including a 93-92 win in Miami back in December. Both teams need this win. Miami is 5-3 in its last eight but failed to cover in three straight while the Pistons have won seven of their last nine, going 5-3-1 ATS in those games. Miami is 8-3 ATS in its last 11 home games and 15-5 ATS in its last 20 conference games while the Pistons are just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 against Southeast Division opponents. Miami should be able to take care of its home court and make a push for the division title tonight.
