Mavericks vs. Cavs Prediction
Will the underdog Dallas Mavericks cover as a double-digit underdog when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. ET?
(509) Dallas Mavericks at (510) Cleveland Cavaliers
Sunday, April 1, 2018
TV: NBATV, 6:00 p.m. ET
The Cavaliers opened as 11-point home favorites and that’s where the number currently sits at the majority of online sportsbooks. The total, meanwhile, hit the board at 217.5 but was bet down to 213.5.
As of this writing, 58% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Cavs to cover the point spread tonight. Meanwhile, 54% of the betting tickets are on the under.
KEY INJURY TO WATCH
Dirk Nowitzki (ankle) is questionable to play for the Mavericks tonight while Wesley Matthews is out with a leg injury. On the other side, George Hill (ankle) and Kyle Korver (foot) are both out for the Cavs.
The Cavs have been a horrible bet as a favorite of 10 or more points, covering just twice in their last 18 opportunities (including playoffs). During that span, they failed to cover by 10 points per game. The Mavericks are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games in Cleveland, are 8-3 against the number in their last 11 games versus the Cavs overall, and are 13-5 at the betting window in their last 18 games played on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Cavs are just 17-37-2 against the spread in their last 56 home games, are 6-23 against the number in their last 29 home games versus a team with a losing road record, and are 8-28 ATS in their last 26 games versus Western Conference opponents. While I hate betting against LeBron James, this is too many points to lay on the Cavs tonight.
