Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Clippers are 6-point favorites to beat the Nets. The total, meanwhile, sits at 231 points and as of this writing, 80% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Clippers to cover the point spread.
Brooklyn Nets Fantasy Spin
Jarrett Allen struggled with foul trouble against the Jazz on Saturday, scoring just four points (0-of-1 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs) with five rebounds, one assist, four blocks and two steals in 21 minutes. Prior to the game, coach Kenny Atkinson talked about how much the Nets want Allen to study the game of Rudy Gobert, who he would be facing in Utah. Gobert, who scored 23 points, showed Allen that he has a ways to go to get to his level. He’s averaging 11.6 points, 8.2 boards and 1.8 blocks on an absurd 79.2% shooting over his last five games. The Nets only play two games next week, which is a bummer, but Allen is still a must-start player.
Los Angeles Clippers Fantasy Spin
Danilo Gallinari (sore left ankle) scored 27 points (10-of-14 FGs, 3-of-5 FTs) on Friday against the Bulls, adding seven rebounds, two assists, one block, one steal and four 3-pointers in 34 minutes. Gallo got Tuesday off to rest a very minor ankle issue, but returned here and didn’t miss a beat. He’s scoring 27.3 points per game in his last four outings on an absurd 63.3% shooting. Those numbers, in addition to his 3.3 triples per in that span, have him inside the top-30 in 9-category leagues over the last two weeks. Gallo has settled in nicely as the team’s go-to scorer.
NBA Betting Trends
Brooklyn
The Nets are 9-4 against the spread in their last 13 games when playing a team with a winning record.
Los Angeles
The Clippers have covered the number in six of their last eight games after scoring 100 points or more in their previous contest.
Prediction
The Nets are 13-5 against the spread in their last 18 games against the Clippers, while the underdog is also 13-5 at the betting window in the previous 18 series meetings. The Nets are also 8-3 against the number in their last 11 games versus Western Conference opponents and have covered in six of their last eight road games versus an opponent with a winning home record. Brooklyn has dropped back-to-back games on the road and failed to cover in four of its previous five games but I still believe this is too many points.
